Diocesan Magazine - Mothers Union

Our new Diocesan President writes:

Dear Fellow Members,

Just a note to send good wishes to you for 2007. I look forward to sharing the fellowship of Mothers Union as we work together to develop our theme of Faith in Action. MU has always been a combination of prayer and action and I know that this year will be no exception!

I am sure that by now everyone will have read C.O.M.U.N and so you are up to date on all that has happened over the year and are looking forward to forthcoming-events: Congratulations and thanks to Joan Blake for this wonderful publication.

Knitting needles are already busily in action for our Action and Outreach Projects for Premature and Still Born babies, and a request has come in for 4 ply knitting wool suitable for this project - if anyone has spare wool or can source some - please contact Bea Thorpe (051) 424941 . The Prayer Walk being planned by Bettie Wilkinson promises to be a wonderful experience and I look forward to meeting members at that event. Please encourage someone from your Branch or parish family to attend the Young Families Conference on 9th March - details from Linda Ward (056) 4441180. This is always a most interesting and enjoyable occasion.

Our Diocesan Festival Service will be in Tullow on 20th April at 7.30 p.m. when Charlotte Daniels and I will be commissioned as Diocesan Treasurer and President respectively. We hope to be joined by some members from our link Diocese of Connor who will be visiting the Diocese that week-end. Please support us with your prayer and presence.

I am sure you will join me in thanking Hazel Sherlock for her care and dedication as Diocesan President and send her our love and good wishes for the future.

I will just finish with a prayer from Rachel Stowe's Anthology of Prayer:

Father be near me;

Comfort me when I am distressed;

Strengthen me when I am weak;

Hold me when I am afraid;

Guide me when I am lost;

Laugh with me and share my joy;

Sing with me and stir my heart;

Fill me up that I may be renewed.

At each day's end and each day's dawning

Father be near me. Amen

With love

Phyllis .
