ANNUAL DIOCESAN SERVICE:
The Annual Diocesan Service & Prize Giving Ceremony was on Sunday 20th May at 3.30 p.m. in St Canice’s Cathedral and was attended by girls and leaders from every branch in the Diocese. The Revd Stella Jones, GFS Chaplain, had a very interactive sermon and got many of the girls involved, the intervention of the church sexton with the roving microphone was a great help too! Following the service, Mavis Thompson, Diocesan President, thanked all who were involved to make it such a good service: Dean Norman Lynas, who once again welcomed us to the Cathedral, Rev. Stella Jones for all her help with the service, Mr Malcolm Proud, Organist who played the newly refurbished organ so magnificently, and all the leaders and girls who also participated. Dean Lynas then presented the prizes ably assisted by the Diocesan Officers.
DAY TRIP TO LULLYMORE:
By the time you read this the Under 9’s will have had their Day Trip to Lullymore and thank you again to Hazel Thompson, Camps Secretary for all her work with the Camps this year.
COFFEE EVENING:
Mrs Emila Corrigan will host a Coffee Evening on Saturday 15th September from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.at her home in Liscolman, Tullow, Co. Carlow. The Coffee Evening will be in aid of funds for the World Council of GFS which Ireland is to host in 2011. While it may seem like a long time to 2011, there are a number of costs along the way which have to be met and it is hoped that members and leaders from Cashel/Ossory will respond positively to Emila’s fund-raising evening.
If any leaders have the Word Quiz completed, please try and return the completed entries, along with the money to Central Office, 36 Upper Leeson Street, Dublin 4 as soon as possible.
