Safeguarding Trust
I am happy to say that the response to the recent Safeguarding Trust training has been very positive and encouraging. Over 4 sessions in various parts of the United Diocese I have been privileged to meet and introduce around 150 youth and children workers to the code. This should hopefully ensure that by September a majority of those working with children in the Diocese will have been well versed in Safeguarding trust. It is very encouraging to meet with so many people in the Diocese who are interested in Christian youth and childrens work.
Youth Services
There have been many Youth events throughout the Diocese during the last few months. Regenerate, the Kilkenny based youth initiative is planning further events in September. The joint Saturday Youth services held between Baltinglass, Kiltegan and Casteldermot groups are going extremely well. The good Friday service hosted by D Grupeyouth Club in Portlaoise was very moving and was an excellent meditation on Christs crucifixion, while the Easter overnight vigil, with Seder meal and dawn communion held by Ferns Youth Club was a wonderful way to welcome the good news of our Lords resurrection. Well done to everyone who was involved with all the above.
LCiYC
Finally, congratulations to the newly elected members and officers of Laois CiYC and thank you to those who have moved on. It is brilliant that the Diocese has such a dedicated and active Youth Council so please remember them in your prayers.
