APPOINTMENTS: JUNE 2007
The Ven. Dr Paul Mooney has been appointed to the Anglican Church in Korea where he will be ministering to the English-speaking Anglican community attached to the cathedral of Seoul.
The Revd Canon Dermot Dunne of Crosspatrick Group of parishes will succeed him as Archdeacon of Ferns. Canon Dunne will be installed as Archdeacon of Ferns in St Edan’s Cathedral, Ferns on Sunday 9th September at 4 p.m. The rector of Ardamine Canon Bob Gray has been appointed as Chancellor and the rector of Gorey, the Revd Mark Hayden, as the newly appointed Canon Treasurer. Both these appointments will also be ratified in St Edan’s Cathedral on Sunday 9th September at 4 p.m.The Revd Lynne Rogers will become non-stipendary Priest-in-Charge in the New Ross / Fethard Group of Parishes from 1st September 2007 and will be assisted by the Revd Jenny Crowley.
The Revd Canon Denis Sandes is moving to the West where he will be taking up the incumbency of Omey Group, Tuam Diocese, better known as Clifden, and leaving the Kells Group of parishes in Co. Kilkenny. Photo shows the Revd Sandes at his farewell "Songs of Praise" at Inistioge Co. Kilkenny where Leslie and Lucy Rothwell and Daphne Codd made a presentation to him and his wife Lesley on behalf of the parish.

ORDINATION: The service was conducted by the Bishop of Cashel and Ossory the Rt Revd Michael Burrows with Chaplain the Revd George Cliffe. The Gospel was read by the Dean of Ferns the Very Revd Leslie D. A. Forrest. Members of the Chapter of Ferns present included the Precentor the Revd Canon Dermot Dunne (Archdeacon-elect of Ferns), the Chancellor the Revd Canon Roger J. Harmsworth, and the Treasurer the Revd Canon Robert J. Gray. Also present were the Dean of Leighlin the Very Revd Gordon Wynne, the Dean of Waterford the Very Revd Trevor Lester and many other clergy from the United Dioceses and beyond. Records did not show when last three priests were ordained at one time in this location and at the commencement of the ceremonies the candidates were presented to the Bishop and congregation by their sponsors: Mr John Galloway and Mr Edward McBride for the Revd Richard Greene, Mr John Massey and Ms Zita Power for the Revd Robert Stotesbury and Ms Annie Slater and Mr Sydney Stephens and for the Revd Margaret Sykes. The readings were by Mr Robbie McCabe from Ardamine and Ms Isobel Greene, Richard’s wife. The sermon was by the Revd Daniel Nuzum from Templebreedy Group of Parishes in Crosshaven Co. Cork. The prayers in the form of sung Litany were led by the Revd Gunilla Elmqvist. The Revds Greene, Stotesbury and Sykes, each carrying their bible, were led down the aisle by the Bishop and out of the cathedral accompanied by representatives of the parishes where they will serve. The Revd Richard Greene with the Dean of Waterford where he will continue to minister, the Revd Robert Stotesbury with the Dean of Ferns where he will continue to minister and the Revd Margaret Sykes with the Revd Canon Robert Gray from Ardamine where she will continue to minister. A reception for the congregation was then held in St Mogue’s Cottage to round of an inspiring and important occasion in the life of the United Dioceses.
The installation of the Revd Ian Cruickshank in Kilcooley Group of Parishes took place on Thursday 21st June. The service was conducted by the Rt Revd Michael Burrows Bishop of Cashel & Ossory and included members of the Dean & Chapter of Cashel: the Very Revd Dr Philip Knowles and the Archdeacon the Ven John Murray. Also present were the Dean of Ossory the Very Revd Norman Lynas, the Registrar and Dean of Leighlin the Very Revd Gordon Wynne, Fr George Burke of Moycarthy and clergy and lay readers from the surrounding dioceses and parishes. The organist was Ms Phyllis Hughes. The Readings were by Mr Ian Keegan from Bray and Mr Tom Cooke from Kilcooley and the Gospel Reading was by the Revd Ian Coulter from Kilkenny and who had helped out during the interregnum. The Sermon was by the Revd Baden Stanley Rector of Bray Parish Members of the congregation brought forward symbols of the teaching, pastoral and sacramental ministry: Mr Matthew Alexander offered a bible from the pulpit to the new rector; Mr Aron Benn brought water from the font; Ms Evelyn Cantwell offered the Book of Common Prayer; Ms Michelle Ruttle and Ms Mary Abbott brought forward bread and wine; Ms Zeda Nicholson offered oil; Ms Sarah Whiteford brought a towel from the font; the Revd Peter Cole-Baker offered a copy of the Diocesan Directory and Churchwarden Mr Nigel Cooke brought forward a key symbolizing the opening of the doors to all people. At a reception afterwards in Johnsown Hall Bishop Burrows acted as M.C. Mr John Leeson spoke ofBray's loss and Kilcooley's gain. The Earl of Meath made a presentation of a lemon tree from the parishioners of Bray; Mr John Nicholson spoke on behalf of Johnstown, Mr Nigel Cooke on behalf of Kilcooley. He also thanked all that had helped during the vacancy: Dean Norman Lynas, the Revd Ian Coulter, the Revd George Knowd, Mr Derek Scott and Mr Tom Cooke; Fr Tom Coyle greeted his new ecumenical colleague on behalf of the parish of Galmoy. The Revd Ian concluded by thanking everyone for their welcome; he has been overwhelmed and is really looking forward in taking up the reins of the Group. The formalities concluded with a presentation to Mrs Cruickshank of a bouquet of flowers.
