NEW CANONS FOR THE DIOCESE OF CASHEL AND OSSORY
Canon Denis Sandes, Rector of Kells Union of Parishes, Co. Kilkenny, will hold the Prebendaries of Killamery in St. Canice's and Aghold in St. Laserians. Canon Sandes has been in Kells since l992 having been ordained in 1989. He is the Diocesan Representative for Bishops' Appeal for Ossory & Leighlin. Canon Barbara Fryday is Rector of the Kilcooley Group of Parishes, scanning the borders of the Diocese of Ossory and Cashel. She will hold the Prebendary of Tascoffin in St. Canice's Cathedral. Before her ordination to the Auxiliary Ministry in l992 Canon Fryday worked in education. In l996 she transferred to the full-time ministry and was appointed Curate-Assistant to Kilcooley. In June l999 Canon Fryday was appointed Rector of Kilcooley. Canon Fryday has the distinction of being the first female canon in these Dioceses. Both new canons will be installed at a special Service in St. Canice's in September. APPOINTMENTS
Waterford Group - Diocese of Waterford. Rev'd Michael Johnston has been appointed Vicar of the
Waterford Group of Parishes. He has served as curate assistant for the
last three years at St. Canices Cathedral. Kilkenny. His introduction
will take place on 12th September in Christ Church, Tramore and the service
will be led by the Right Rev'd Peter F. Barrett. New Honorary Vicar Choral in Cashel The
Dean of Cashel, the Very Revd. P. J. Knowles, is pleased to announce
the appointment of the Revd Iain Knox as Honorary Vicar Choral of the
Cathedral Church of St. John the Baptist and St. Patrick's Rock, Cashel,
Co. Tipperary.
