NEW RECTOR AND DEAN FOR WATERFORD GROUP OF PARISHES

The Revd. Trevor Lester has been appointed Rector of the Waterford Group of Parishes. Trevor is married to Oriel and they have five children. Vicky, Amanda, Richard, Matthew and a recently adopted little girl from China, Mei Long.

Trevor worked in the family pharmacy in Cork City for many years and in l983 became a lay reader, and later studied for the auxiliary ministry and was ordained in l989. In l992 he transferred to the stipendiary (full-time) ministry on completion of a period of study at St. Deiniol's College in Wales and following that took up the position as Curate for the Kilkenny Group of Parishes and Bishop's Vicar. In l995 he was appointed Incumbent for the Abbeystrewry Union of Parishes in the Diocese of Cork. During his time there the parish has just completed a restoration project in all four churches and the parish hall of the Union.

The Revd. Lester is involved in many community projects in Skibbereen. He is on the St. Vincent de Paul Committee, involved with the C.O.P.E. Foundation and is Chairman of the Local Rugby Club. He is a keen boating enthusiast.

The Institution will take place late July in Christ Church Cathedral Waterford and his appointment as Dean of the Cathedral will follow.
