Recording of TV service celebrating lay ministry in this Diocese

Five… four… three…two…one!

The recording of an RTE 1 TV Sunday Service on the theme of lay ministry featuring people from the Diocese of Cashel, Ferns and Ossory took place in RTE Television studios on Sunday, 30th July.

This service will be broadcast on Sunday morning, August 20th.

All those who help run Church of Ireland parishes including diocesan readers, vestry members, treasurers, tea-makers and flower arrangers were represented along with Sunday School and youth group leaders and representatives of organisations like Mothers’ Union, Boys’ Brigade and GFS.

Viewers on 20th August will see symbols representing each role being placed on the table during the service.

We have come from the Diocese of Cashel, Ferns and Ossory, in the South East of our country to celebrate the ministry of  lay people in the life of  our Church,” Diocesan reader Ger James will say, opening the service.

“Too often, we assume that ministry is the work of those who are ordained and nobody else. But our Lord Jesus Christ has called all who believe in him to the ministry of all God’s people…”

Photographs shown here were taken at the recording of the Sunday Service.

Don’t forget –  the service will be broadcast on Sunday, August 20th at 11 a.m.
