Route 66 – first day

Bishop Michael Burrows began his Route 66 sermon marathon yesterday, Wednesday 13th September.

First stop was Castlecomer Church, then Wandesforde School, Kilkenny College and Kilkenny Model School.

Templemore School and Church followed and after that a lunch-time visit to Cashel, to both the Deanery School and Cathedral.

Kilcooley Church came next, then Fertagh. The Bishop completed day 1 of his rapid road tour in St Canice’s Cathedral in Kilkenny.

An introduction to Route 66 was given in Castlecomer Church followed by short sermons on each of the first 10 books of the Bible, all on the theme of the empowerment of women, at the other venues.

Route 66 is a sponsored sermon marathon with funds raised going to women’s literacy projects in Ethiopia and the Congo run by Mothers’ Union and Feed the Minds.

Friday’s trip will take include parish churches and schools in Bagnelstown and Bunclody, Clonroche and New Ross finishing in Inistioge and Kells.
