ECUMENICAL PILGRIMAGE TO LUXEMBOURG 4-7 JUNE 2017
Fancy going on an ecumenical pilgrimage to Echternach, Luxembourg between 4-7 June 2017?
The pilgrimage will be led by Bishop Denis Nulty, Roman Catholic Bishop of Kildare & Leighlin and Bishop Michael Burrows, Bishop of Cashel, Ferns & Ossory.
This is to travel in the footsteps of St. Willibrord. He was from England, is the Patron Saint of Luxembourg but he was trained and ordained in County Carlow (Leighlin Union of Parishes).
In 690 AD he led a successful European mission from Carlow, and the annual hopping/dancing procession held in his honour in Echternach, Luxembourg has received UNESCO World Heritage Status.
It occurs on Whit Tuesday each year.
The pilgrimage was launched on St Willibrord’s Day in Saint Laserian’s Cathedral by Bishops Nulty and Burrows.
Echternach has developed a strong tourism industry centred on the procession, which draws many thousands of tourists and pilgrims from around the world.
The cost of the trip is €590 per person sharing and covers return flights, taxes and charges, sharing twin or double room for 3 nights & specified transfers.
