Dear Friends
Rather than writing at any length this month, I am asking the editor to reproduce in the magazine details of my ROUTE 66 Biblical peregrinations through the diocese in September. The details of this endeavour will also be provided to parishes on separate leaflets and posters. The contents speak for themselves, and I look forward with a measure of excitement to my ‘preaching’ tour and to having the support and presence of many of you along the way.
As we continue to experience many personnel changes around the diocese, I want to congratulate Mr Matthew Bater on his appointment as Principal of Gorey Central School and Ms Sonya Burgess on her appointment as Principal in Shillelagh. Both of these estimable people have the advantage of considerable familiarity with the schools where they now take the helm, and we wish them every blessing and success. We say a grateful farewell to the Reverend Jim Wallace as he leaves the curacy in Waterford Union after a five year contribution to the ministry team there. Jim has so many gifts not least in preaching, leadership and social outreach and we wish him well in his exploration of pastures new. He will be greatly missed among the clergy where his insights and searching questions were always valued.
Have a happy summer wherever you are, and may the editor in particular enjoy the month-without-a -mag!
