priesthood. The preacher was the Very Revd James Mulhall (Dean of Cashel), who had worked very closely with Daniel during his year as a Deacon Intern in Cashel Union. The organist was Mr Simon Harden, the director of music at Christ Church Cathedral.
priesthood. The preacher was the Very Revd James Mulhall (Dean of Cashel), who had worked very closely with Daniel during his year as a Deacon Intern in Cashel Union. The organist was Mr Simon Harden, the director of music at Christ Church Cathedral.
At the start of the service, Daniel was presented to the Bishop by his sponsors, which included the Very Revd James Mulhall, family members, friends and the Dean of Waterford, the Very Revd Bruce Hayes. In Dean Mulhall’s sermon, he drew attention to the significance of the words read by the bishop to the new priest at the very end of the service, telling Daniel to ‘remember always with thanksgiving that the treasure now entrusted to you is Christ’s own flock’. Prior to training for ordination, Reverend Fleming worked as an engineer, in IT and in project management. He will live in Tramore and serve as curate of Waterford Union working alongside Dean Hayes.
Following the blessing, the Bishop and the new curate made their way to the church door followed by representatives of the parish and diocese. Then a number of family and group photographs were taken by DCO Shane Reynolds outside the Cathedral. The fellowship continued over refreshments which were served at the back of the Cathedral.
