December 1st is a big day on several fronts in this diocese. Please note the following events:
The Fun & Fellowship Choir from Gorey is featuring in the RTE 1 Television Sunday Service at 11.05 a.m. Recorded last week, the service is led by the Reverend Canon Mark Hayden. It can be viewed on the RTE Player for a month after broadcast so do enjoy it at a later date if you can’t watch it on the day.
Don’t forget that the Carlow Tree Festival continues until Sunday evening, December 1st (from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.) It is the first in St Mary’s, Carlow and the response to this local charity fundraiser so far has been wonderful so do go along if you can before it finishes.
Also on December 1st, Ferns Cathedral is well worth a visit at 5 p.m. because the Ferns Diocesan Carol Service starts at that time. It is titled ‘O Come, O Come Emmanuel…’ and the choir has been practising hard, and under the direction of Henry Percival, will lead the singing at this service. It will make a memorable start to Advent.
There are two other Christmas Tree Festival in other parts of the diocese too to visit soon if you can too – in St Canice’s Cathedral from 5th-10th December and in Christ Church Cathedral, Waterford from 6th-15th
Also a reminder about the special 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Based Violence service in Waterford Cathedral at 4 p.m. on Sunday, December 8th. It also features the ‘Souls of Our Shoes’ exhibition.
