The Reverend Leslie Crampton celebrated the 50th anniversary of his ordination recently.
He was part of the “class of 1967” and didn’t attend the main celebration service in St Anne’s Cathedral, Belfast, as a service of celebration had already been planned in Enniscorthy.
Bishop Walton Empey attended the special service (and read the Gospel) as he had been Leslie’s Bishop twice, first when he was Bishop of Meath and Kildare and Leslie was Chaplain of Wilson’s Hospital School in that Diocese, and again when he was Archbishop of Dublin and Leslie was Rector of Athy.
Following the service Leslie planted a magnolia tree in the church grounds with the help of two of his grandchildren and the churchwarden!
Our congratulations to Leslie on this special anniversary!
