Church Tourism and Public Engagement Workshop in Waterford on 8th May

Don’t forget this important workshop happening in Waterford on Thursday May 8th.

Sarah Crossland from the National Churches Trust (UK) will be leading a workshop on church tourism and public engagement in Christ Church Cathedral on Tuesday, 8 May at 6:30 PM.

This workshop will examine the benefits of developing church tourism and topics such as creating the perfect welcome, interpreting heritage for visitors, large scale events, heritage trails, tours, volunteer training and publicity/tourism promotion.

Ms Crossland will also present case studies of successful and innovative projects being implemented across the United Kingdom.  Refreshments will be served. Sarah Crossland has worked with hundreds of churches and faith communities to develop their tourism, education and heritage potential.  She currently serves as church tourism manager for the National Churches Trust (UK), trustee of the Churches Visitor and Tourism Association, and heritage advisor to the Diocese of Sheffield DAC.  The National Churches Trust is a national, independent, charity dedicated to promoting and supporting church buildings of historic, architectural and community value across the UK.  Members of Waterford Union and the Friends of the Cathedral are encouraged to attend, for which there will be no charge. Members of other faith communities and churches interested in learning more about developing their visitor, heritage, and tourism potential are most welcome to attend.

The cost of attendance is €20.00.
