Bishop Adrian Wilkinson is delighted to announce the appointment of a Deputy Diocesan Registrar. He is Seán Rafter, a practising barrister and parishioner of Kilkenny Union. He will be formally licensed at evensong this Sunday 7th May. As the Diocesan Registrar is Dean Stephen Farrell, Mr Rafter will primarily be involved in services in St Canice’s Cathedral when required or when Dean Farrell is unavailable.
Mr Rafter writes,
“I am a practicing barrister based on the South Eastern Circuit. A native of Kilkenny, I studied ‘Law with French’ at University College Dublin and at Paris II/Panthéon Assas in Paris, France following which I completed the Barrister-at-Law Degree programme at the Honourable Society of Kings Inns and was called to the Bar of Ireland in Michaelmas 2014. I am married to Nicola and we have three boys. I am involved in the equine industry and have a keen interest in philosophy, literature and history.”
The Bishop adds, ‘I am delighted that Seán Rafter has taken on this role at my request. As both a professional barrister and a committed lay person, he will be a great asset to the both St Canice’s Cathedral and the Diocese. I thank him for his interest and commitment.’
