Last night, July 3rd 2018, The Reverend Conor O’Reilly was received into priestly ministry and licensed to be curate in Wexford and Kilscoran Union of Parishes.
The special service took place in St Iberius Church, Wexford and was preceded by a garden party at the Rectory in Park.
Family, friends, clergy and parishioners gathered to greet him and participate in this special event iincluding some friends who had known Conor in his previous ministry.
The service took place on the Feast of St Thomas the Apostle – a theme that Dr Bridget Nichols, Adjunct Assistant Professor in Anglicanism and Liturgy in the Church of Ireland Theological Institute expounded on when she preached during the service.
Bishop Burrows also mentioned that this was a special day for him also as he was celebrating 12 years as Bishop of Cashel, Ferns & Ossory yesterday and that he had chosen the Feast of St Thomas the Apostle for that special occasion back in 2006 too.
Mayor Tony Dempsey also attended the service.
Conor was accompanied out of the church by representatives of the parish where he will serve, as is the custom.
Refreshments were served afterwards in the church.
We wish Conor every blessing in this new chapter of his ministry.
The Reverend Margaret Sykes was also thanked for helping out with services and hospital chaplaincy over the past twenty months.
